(1) CHINESE ASSISTANT AT THE VICTORIA PEAK SIGNAL STATION:- On the recommendation of the Acting Harbour Master an increase of $1 monthly was granted to this officer, the personal allowance being merged in the salary of the post.
(2) WATCHMAN AT SIGNAL STATION:- VICTORIA PEAK:- On the Acting Harbour Master's recommendation an increase of $1 monthly was granted to this officer.
(3) SECOND HEAD BOATMAN:- It has been found necessary to engage a 2nd Head Boatman to help in the work of relieving the light-house keepers at Gap Rock and Waglan.
(4) TEN CHINESE BOATMEN at $108 and 10 at $96 each: 120 Boatmen at Out-Stations at $96 each: 18 Boatmen at Cheung Chau & Sai King; 4 Messengers at $96 each; 8 Chinese Sailors Government Marine Surveyor's Sub-Department. These increases are due to the general rise in Wages throughout the Colony. It is not possible to obtain suitable men for a lower wage.
(6) NING POLICE OFFICERS IN CHARGE:- The Captain Superintendent of Police and the Acting Harbour Master recommended that the licensing of boats in Deep Bay, which was previously done at Tai-O Police Station, should be placed in the hands of the Sergeant in charge of the Police launch doing duty in Deep Bay. The usual allowances to Police performing such work are - European officer $11 per mensem: Chinese officer $5 per mensem. The Acting Captain Superintendent of Police further recommended that the Constable on the launch should receive an allowance of $5 a month.
